Melissa:
What fee should
a judgment recovery
specialist charge to
process a judgments?
Lance:
Typically you
charge a 50% of the
money you collect.
Sometimes more.
Sometimes slightly less.
Although your fee is
negotiable, I rarely
take assignment of a
judgment for less than
50% of what I can
collect.
The reason being is that
there are just too many
collectible judgments
available to sell my
company and or myself
short.
I recall several years
ago I took assignment on
a rather substantial
deal (15K).
I was attempting to
establish my company
with a creditor that I
knew could provide me
with a steady stream of
collectible judgments.
Therefore, to
establish my company
with them I charged a
fee of just 43%.
The good news is that I
collected the judgment
in full, with a single
bank levy. The client
was ecstatic and I'm
still collecting
judgments for them
today.
The bad news is that I
lost a very substantial
amount of revenue. The
bottom line and moral of
the story is simple.
Never sell yourself
short. You are in
business to make
money... Period!
In my training system I have included
several rebuttals that we use that will
often close the deal.
If you've ever seen the movie "Glengarry
Glen Ross" you know what I mean...
Always Be Closing... That is if the deal
is right.
